WE HAVE A JOB OPENING!

          Joy McGinnis, our CEO for the last five years, is retiring in June 2012 and we need to fill her shoes.  During her time here, Joy was instrumental in starting our free tax site and bringing a free prescription drug discount card to the area. 

          She worked with Columbia County Family Center to get a financial literacy program started and recently announced that Berwick Area United Way is now an approved Educational Improvement Tax Credit sponsoring organization.

            In spite of her computer discomfort, Joy helped get us on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, improved our web site, set up our email newsletter and marketing on Constant Contact, and upgraded our campaign tracking and accounting software.  This spring, we will move to a web based funding application program to streamline that process for our volunteers and our agencies. 

            We will miss her vision and passion for United Way and the Berwick community but we know some one is out there ready to take on the challenge.  If you know some one, please send them to www.liveunited.org for details and information on how to apply.   

          On the lovely summer evening of July 26, 2011, the Berwick Area United Way said thank you to the leadership givers of the President's Society whose support has meant so much to our success through the years.  With their gifts of at least $500.00, the leadership givers made up 22% of the 2010 Annual Campaign.

          More importantly, more than half of the leadership givers have supported the Berwick Area United Way for at least ten years, many for more than twenty years and some for more than thirty years.  Their continued giving and commitment is a testament to their confidence that the Berwick Area United Way is using their gifts in the most effective way for the good of the community.

          With a lovely buffet, wine and a tour of the beautiful Jackson Mansion, we said thank you for all the years of support for what we are trying to do in our community, for the loyalty and confidence of our leadership givers and for being there when so many of our community needed a helping hand. 

          Because of you, lives have been changed and because of you, lives will continue to be changed.  On behalf of the many people whose lives you have touched - your friends, your family, your neighbors - thank you for all you do.
