Berwick Area United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on support for working families. But we can't do it alone. We need the heads, hands and hearts of committed people like you to help us tackle the problems facing our communities. Each one of us has special talents, things we can do to help. Put your talents to work for your community. Volunteer.
Berwick Area United Way Saturday Soup Kitchen for 2012 is currently all staffed. Thank you to all of the groups who stepped up to help! If you want to be added to the volunteer mailing list for 2013, please call the office at 759-8203. Groups are notified in September to pick weeks and you can join that list. Volunteers prepare and serve a meal for 30 to 50 guests, clean up and get a good feeling. Thanks to all of this year's volunteers!
Our 18th annual Day of Caring is coming and you're invited to help. Mark April 21, 2012 and help out! Volunteers help with agency projects as well as doing some heavy lifting for the elderl and disabled in our community. The day starts with breakfast and your assignment, we have free raffles and door prizes for volunteers and lunch is provided. Call or email to get involved.
The Letter Carriers Food Drive is Saturday, May 12, 2012. We need teams of drivers and runners to collect the donated food around the community, deliver it to area food banks and help sort the food. The donations go to the Berwick Salvation Army, Nescopeck Food Cupboard and Shickshinny Food Pantry. Be at the Berwick Post Office at 10:30 am dressed to work!
Give an hour. Give a Saturday. Give your best. We all have special talents. Things we can do to help. And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. Whether it’s reading to children, or leading financial literacy classes for hard-working families, or delivering meals to homebound seniors, there are hundreds of volunteer options available every day.
Give the gift of you. Volunteer.
